The Process

Early Little Jr.

The PROCESS… My father went through the recruiting process as a former student-athlete, high school, and college coach. So he knew how to help guide me through The PROCESS. For example, when I was playing youth football, I remember my father telling me that I would be a top recruit and the top defensive back in the nation when I finished playing high school football.

The PROCESS started when I received my first offer during the spring of my freshman year. My first offer came from Southern Mississippi University. I texted my parents in our group chat and said, “I have my first offer; it’s from Southern Mississippi.” They congratulated me, and my dad said, many more will come but focus on the grind. As months passed, more offers started to roll in. Along with the offers come constant texts and phone calls. My dad is a high school football coach, and there’s no NCAA dead period when recruiting me. His phone line was open 24/7/365. That’s an advantage my parents had when building relationships with all the coaches who were recruiting me.

The PROCESS started heating up when all the big-time college programs started offering and asking my parents to bring me on unofficial visits during my sophomore and junior years—like Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Miami, UF, and many more. We took visits to some of these universities during my seasons after games. It was a grind, but my parents wanted me to experience what it’s like being recruited once I started taking official visits. It paid off in the end. My parents told all the head coaches and assistants that I would take all 5 of my OV unless I decided I didn’t want to. My parents told coaches I would not be pressured into making a decision on where I’m going to school. They told all coaches, I will go through the PROCESS, and at the end, we’ll sit down and go through all the pros and cons of each university and their staff. After evaluating all programs, I will make my decision. My parents wanted to make sure the PROCESS would go as smoothly as possible. It can become stressful for us student-athletes. I know it’s essential for parents to educate themselves on recruiting and help their children go through this PROCESS together.

The PROCESS is stressful, but it’s a great time to experience with your family. As I said earlier, building relationships was key to my recruitment, especially with the head coach. On December 15, 2021, I announced on ESPN2 where I would attend college. The final sentence in my announcement was, “My next destination will be, The University of Alabama, Roll Tide.” My parents, family members, friends, and coaches are proud of my accomplishments. As my parents say, I’ve earned it the old-fashioned way through hard work, being humble, and focusing. My family and I are thrilled, and we would like to thank everyone who helped throughout this journey and PROCESS. New beginnings, and I’ll continue working hard and grinding. I will not be outworked! I am The STANDARD! Thank you, and may God continue to bless us all.

Roll Tide Roll!
